Description
The role provides effective strategic, operational, financial leadership. In collaboration with the executive director, leads in development, analysis, implementation, and evaluation of strategic and operational plans to achieve system–wide clinical productivity benchmarking objectives in partnership with finance. Provides expert clinical and financial consultation, reporting structures and effective communication related to clinical productivity and benchmarking. Designs, implements, and evaluates processes aimed at maximizing clinical productivity benchmarking reliability and effectiveness. Partners with finance leaders and analysts to deliver a coordinated benchmarking strategy and methodology, including joint training of stakeholders and users. Communicates to nurse executives and clinical operations leaders in implementing and supporting productivity related resource management.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
The position reports to the Executive Director of Strategy and Planning, PNI with matrix relationship to AVP, Finance, Strategic Business Analytics (Finance). Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with nurse executives and nurse management and related functions to support design and implementation of work product.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides strategic leadership related to initiatives to design, develop and implement unified benchmarking and productivity targets.
- Support development and execution of standard system external clinical benchmarking system, in partnership with finance productivity leaders and analysts.
- Provide expert consultation to clinical and finance leaders regarding both using the productivity benchmarking system as well as corresponding budget targets, construction, management.
- Communicates and supports nurse executives, CNO’s in related aspects of clinical productivity and budget management, including gathering feedback prior to design finalization and implementation.
- Participates in related committees and councils.
- Provides indirect supervision and oversight of work of productivity benchmarking analysts in Finance, in consistent partnership with Finance leaders.
- Partners with Finance, annual benchmarking methodology, objectives, priorities, and target planning.
- Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
- Remain abreast of market and professional industry trends in resource management and benchmarking.
- Manage relationships with the Providence corporate benchmarking partner; in all aspects service support and accountability.
- Represent clinical productivity benchmarking performance and issues to clinical and executive leaders
- Evaluate productivity benchmarking performance for compliance with established policies and objectives; especially finance patient acuity and staffing, labor and clinical policies and standards.
- Lead, in partnership with Finance, in developing targeted communication plans to inform leaders and stakeholders in all aspect of program growth, management and outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in business administration, health care administration, nursing administration, finance or directly related graduate degree is required, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or other licensed clinical discipline
- Current valid and unencumbered nursing or other clinical discipline license or required certification
- At least ten years of progressive experience in a clinical or health care leadership role with one or more large, complex health care companies.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in professional clinical resource management and temporary staffing.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management
- Experience in formulating policy, and developing and implementing policies and procedures
- Ability to develop operational plans and manage resources
- Ability to lead and motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects.
- Expertise in performance improvement methods
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
- Knowledge of public relations principles and practices
- Effective of communication, conflict management and public relations techniques.
- Consider experience and credibility in nursing or other clinical discipline
- Skill in examining and improving operations and procedures
- Effective professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule and travel.
