Providence is calling a GI Lab Technician II - Endoscopy Center (Full-Time/Day-Shift) to Providence Facey Medical Foundation in Mission Hills, CA
We are seeking a GI Lab Technician II - Endoscopy Center who will be responsible for providing assistance to the GI physicians in diagnostic and interventional procedures in the GI lab by providing safe and efficient patient care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to achieve quality patient outcomes.
In this position you will:
- Deliver upon the service expectations of both our patients and fellow staff members by listening to their needs; engaging in positive interactions; and following through on promises made in a thoughtful, efficient, timely and courteous manner so that their total outcome is better than expected
- Respect the dignity, confidentiality and privacy of patients
- Work in a safe manner, adhering to general safety precautions and standards. Report any unsafe conditions to their supervisor and/or the safety hotline
- Provide assistance to physician during all GI endoscopic procedures
- Responsible for proper set-up of the procedure room with appropriate equipment and supplies
- Responsible for proper clean-up, sterilization or disinfection and maintenance of all endoscopic equipment
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all procedures and care provided and assures accurate reporting to other healthcare personnel
- Utilize recommended practices and standards as stated in policies and procedures and as directed by the Registered Nurse
- Assist in ordering and organizing supplies for the GI lab
- Assist in the GI lab maintenance, including but not limited to, maintaining inventory in procedure rooms, storage cabinets and checking in new products
- Follow correct procedures for handling and disposing of biohazardous infectious waste
- Perform daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance
- Demonstrate a through knowledge of endoscopic procedures performed in the GI lab and reprocessing of endoscopes
- Participate in Staff meetings and attends all mandatory staff in-services
- Maintain all daily logs
- Comply with all applicable infection control and safety procedures
- Demonstrate awareness of current state, federal and local laws
- Use appropriate reporting mechanisms as required by state laws
- Demonstrate commitment to education and sharing of knowledge:
- Assist in the orientation of new personnel to the department
- Obtain ongoing education consistent with level and area of practice
- Maintain current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers and other appropriate licensure/certifications
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
- Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
- Medical Assistant Certification, Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate or Surgical Technology Certificate and current American Heart Association BLS for Health Care Providers
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Five (5) years of Health care experience in a GI lab
