Position Summary

The overall purpose of the Maintenance Assistant is to provide assistance in the care of the facility physical building and grounds. This Maintenance Assistance may perform repairs as directed, collect and dispose of refuse, clean, strip, wax and buff floors, assure prompt snow and ice removal, and otherwise act to help assure the maintenance of the building is in proper order.

Job Description

1. Perform all assigned task in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Maintenance Department

2. Assist in maintaining HVAC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas.

3. Perform urgent, corrective, routine, and requisitioned repairs of minor problems with electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems and on equipment as required. Notify Supervisor of major repairs if required.

4. Maintain lawn, landscaping and building exterior.

5. Perform maintenance duties on all physical structures of the facility and complies with all building safety codes.

6. Assist in replacing, repairing and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances and lighting systems.

7. Maintain routine records of all inspections, maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system.

8. Assist in moving supplies or furniture.

9. Have knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems.

10. Have knowledge and observance of safety precautions.

Qualifications

·       High School graduate or equivalent

·       Ability to read, write, and speak the English Language.

·       Experience in institutional maintenance preferred.
