Position overview

The Divisional Assistant Controller supports the companies’ financial staff with financial matters by working with the Controller to set up control systems and manage company financial records

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts
  • Supports the CFO and Controller in carrying out the responsibilities of the materials portion of business
  • Participates in financial statement preparation and analysis, budget and variance issues and forecasting
  • Identifies solutions to discrepancies in financial records
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports
  • Reviewing processes and controlling costs to ensure efficient operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven track record of successful inventory management and supply chain coordination
  • Responsible for review and filing of tax returns/payments, including but not limited to personal, secured property, sales and use tax and diesel tax
  • Assists financial managers with budgeting
  • Supervision of materials accounting staff
  • Good leadership and communication skills and deep knowledge about the financial aspects of a company
  • Works with the accounting team to create internal controls and policies
  • Ensures all accounting practices are in compliance with legal guidelines and established accounting principles
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations and best practices
  • Complete understanding of GAAP in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent understanding of governmental guidelines, tax laws that affect the company
  • Display a high level of organization and prioritization for tasks at hand
  • Demonstrates flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem solving
  • Proven time management and follow-through skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with tight deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment
  • Responsible to enhance and design reports that meet analysis for operations
  • Display superior written and oral communication skills and effective listening skills
  • Maintain a tactful, mature and professional demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse personnel

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong knowledge of manufacturing accounting
  • Supervisory Experience
  • CPA or CMA a plus
  • High Volume environment
  • Experience with Power BI and Vena Budgeting/Forecasting a plus
  • Experience Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams

Work Environment

  • Works normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday most of the time.
  • Extends working hours into evenings and weekends during seasonal busy times.
  • Spends time in a climate controlled office setting looking a computer screens and keyboarding.
  • Attends budget meetings and other financial meetings on a regular basis.
