psi is looking for a School Counselor to support a parochial school in Akron. Currently this position is 35 hours per week. This position is for the 2021-2022 school year with the opportunity to continue into next year.

Specific duties are assigned by psi in consultation with school and/or district personnel. School Counselor duties may include the following:
- Pre-referral consultation and intervention services delivered in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
- Participate in Student Assistance Teams, whose purpose is to identify and meet children’s academic and emotional needs in the regular education program.
- Develop a comprehensive counseling program that includes large group programs: Bullying, Study Skills, Making Good Choices, etc.
- Small group counseling/ interventions for students to address emotional, social, and academic concerns.
- Provide individual counseling for at-risk students.
- Consultation with teachers and other staff members regarding student’s achievement, behavioral, organizational, and personal concerns.
- Preparation, completion, and dissemination of forms required in the course of service delivery by psi and local school authorities.
- Adherence to appropriate professional codes of ethics.
Qualifications:
- Must have a Master's degree in School Counseling
- Must be licensed as a School Counselor through the ODE
- Must be well-versed in applicable state and federal law
- Experience working as a School Counselor is strongly preferred
- Collaborative, constructive team building skills are required
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and other staff members
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the job
If hired, candidate must complete a BCI/FBI Background check and be in compliance with Ohio Administrative Code Rule 3301-20-01.
