POSITION: Technician, Utility (Aerospace)

LOCATION: Jupiter, FL.

STATUS: Contract to Hire, Hourly Non-Exempt 

JOB SUMMARY 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs, close-tolerance assembly, grinding, polishing, deburring and in-process inspection on various commercial and military aerospace turbine components or coatings using various tools and equipment by following written procedures and established practices
• Utilizes precision measuring equipment as required 
• Assists operators in setting up equipment or fixtures as required
• Operates cleaning process machines such as the ultrasonic or the hot water wash 
• Operate other process specific equipment as required 
• Operates small cranes and fork-lifts to move equipment, parts, and material 
• Interfaces with aerospace engineering regarding recommendations for work instruction and/or router improvements 
• Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools 
• Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition 
• Follows Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in a fast-paced environment
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Training

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent. 
• Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria. 
• Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes:  
  1. Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training. 

Skills/Experience 

• 2 years of experience in a production or maintenance environment 
• 2 years of experience of manufacturing experience with the specific skills in one of the following disciplines preferred: grinding, blending coatings, coatings application, coatings removal (strip line), blasting, heat treat, machining or welding 
• 2 years of experience with interpretation of technical drawings or work instructions preferred 
• Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications 
• Must be a detailed oriented 

Physical Requirements 

• Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. 
• Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. 
• Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. 
• Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 
• Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time 
• Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another. 
• Pushing & Pulling 
• Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. 
• Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. 
• Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. 

• The worker is subject to noise. There is may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout raise their voice in order to be heard above ambient noise level.

• The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. 

• Capable of wearing required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes, etc.
