POSITION: Technician, Utility (Aerospace)
LOCATION: Jupiter, FL.
STATUS: Contract to Hire, Hourly Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Performs, close-tolerance assembly, grinding, polishing, deburring and in-process inspection on various commercial and military aerospace turbine components or coatings using various tools and equipmentby following written procedures and established practices
Utilizes precision measuring equipment as required
Assists operators in setting up equipment or fixtures as required
Operates cleaning process machines such as the ultrasonic or the hot water wash
Operate other process specific equipment as required
Operates small cranes and fork-lifts to move equipment, parts, and material
Interfaces with aerospace engineering regarding recommendations for work instruction and/or router improvements
Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools
Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition
Follows Environmental Health and Safety regulations while working in a fast-paced environment
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education & Training
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Complete specific on-the-job training towards meeting essential duties and work area performance criteria.
Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix, which includes:
Initial and annual Hazardous Waste Management training.
Skills/Experience
2 years of experience in a production or maintenance environment
2 years of experience of manufacturing experience with the specific skills in one of the following disciplines preferred: grinding, blending coatings, coatings application, coatings removal (strip line), blasting, heat treat, machining or welding
2 years of experience with interpretation of technical drawings or work instructions preferred
Basic knowledge of MS Office programs, SAP, and time keeping applications
Must be a detailed oriented
Physical Requirements
Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time
Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another.
Pushing & Pulling
Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
The worker is subject to noise. There is may be sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout raise their voice in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
Capable of wearing required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety shoes, etc.
