Job Summary:
Testing of high-quality tubular goods (OCTG) and responsible for performing all standard operation testing per industrial standard of API, ASTM, and PTC SOP’s requirements for product manufacture and testing. Relies on work instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Work responsibilities must be performed in accordance with regulatory and industrial standards, and in a timely manner with the high regard for safety and quality. Serve as the frontline agent of production and machine operation for the company’s lab department. Works under the immediate supervision of the Quality Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all procedures meet specification and customer guidelines
- Responsible for milling and grinding machine to process testing specimen to achieve accuracy, controlled specimen, dimension, and roughness
- Responsible for interpreting experimental and inspection results, preparing reports, and drive corrective action as appropriate.
- Prepare test materials according to rigid techniques and other quality control requirements of laboratory procedures.
- Operates the milling and grinding machine to process testing specimen
- Responsible for the testing scope of internal lab covers: tensile testing, hardness testing, CVN impact testing, flattening, chemical composition analysis, and metallographic analysis.
- Responsible for physical testing, spectroscopy, IR, weights, and diluting.
- Assist in maintaining a quality and continual improvement of the production process through all capable metallurgical testing.
- Proactively suggest, develop, and the advice of preventative measures.
- Responsible for examining and performing the flattening, tensile and yield charpy impact and hardness testing
- Assist Quality manager in maintaining the met-lab and functions
- Responsible for properly marking the specimens with the correspondence information
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Years of Experience: 1 - 3 years of relative machining and testing experience

Strong oral and written communication skills; High level of initiative, critical thinking, problem analysis and resolution skills; Excellent organizational and interpersonal relations skills; strong internal and external client focus; Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions; Ability to listen and understand information from a technical parameter; Have the ability to operate the saw cutting machine and other machines necessary to prepare the specimens; Skills and knowledge of how to operate the following machines: Band saw machine, V-notch broaching machine, and sand paper grinding machine; Skills and knowledge of how to prepare tensile specimen, hardness testing block, and V-notch charpy impact specimen; in which, all specimens are tight dimension of industrial standard, API 5CT and ASTM; Skills and knowledge to ensure the proper use of the micrometer and caliper device to check the final dimension of machined specimen for the accuracy of the results; Basic mathematic calculation to complete final lab report; Strong attention to detail and good interpersonal skills. Strong decision making and problem solving skills. Ability to multi-task in fast-paced dynamic environment. Have the knowledge of how and where to find the dimensions and tolerances for the type of material to be tested. Ability to follow instructions from the technical parameters. Familiarity with V-notch (broaching) machine. Familiarity with precision measurement tool usage: caliper and micrometer to ensure the accuracy of the results. Familiarity with API ad ASTM specifications, in regards to product manufacture and testing. Previous experience in Quality environment preferred. Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours. Strong work ethic. Ability to work overtime as needed. Can do - team player attitude. Previous experience in Quality environment preferred. Chromatography desired but not required.
