Job Overview
A Full Stack Web Developer is needed to create, extend and optimize station digital products (websites, modules, integrations).
The Full Stack Web Developer is an expert in interactive front-end experiences and core web technologies such as CSS3, HTML5 and JavaScript ES6. Works with related front and back-end libraries and project stack frameworks, particularly Node.js, Sass, Git, Handlebars and Yarn. The Full Stack Web Developer must all be proficient in both Java. The ideal candidate must be able to plan, document, communicate and execute on the development of complex, data-driven web experiences to support video streaming, publishing, membership applications and more.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
55% Development and Testing
- Develop front-end interactive experiences and back-end integrations to support digital product objectives, particularly on, but not limited to, kcet.org, pbssocal.org and linktv.org
- Prototype, test and iterate against designs and specification to optimize user experience and overall product performance.
35% Collaboration and Planning
- Work with the Digital team, particularly the Project Manager and Web Development Manager to strategize, architect and plan deliverables and development approaches
10% Skill Leadership
- Provide in-house expertise on particular technologies and their application to PMGSC products
Qualifications:
- Ability to demonstrate high-level proficiency developing data-driven interactive web applications
- Proficiency with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks, especially Node.js
- Strong understanding of web-based architecture and performance issues and strategies
- Proficiency with Java (PMGSC websites are on the Brightspot platform)
- Strong ability to work with new technologies and problem solve, independently or collaboratively
- Knowledge of latest trends in web application development
- Experience with Brightspot CMS, Storybook or Craft CMS are a plus
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree; Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering or Equivalent [preferred]
- 7 years related experience
