What are the responsibilities and job description for the Media Specialist position at Public Schools of Robeson County?
QUALIFICATIONS: A four year degree from an accredited institution with certification in media.
REPORTS TO: Principal
JOB GOAL: To provide the leadership and resources for implementation of a school library/media program that serves as an integral part of the instructional process.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages Instruction
Instructs students and faculty in using and/or producing media to integrate into the curriculum and facilitate the teaching/learning process.
Manages Public Relations
Initiates interaction with students, staff, administrations, and the general public for purposes of integrating, promoting, and expanding the media program.
Plans for the Media Program
Designs and implements short and long-range plans, which allows a balance among integrated skills instruction, literature appreciation, planning and teachers, and collection management and development.
Manages Resources
Establishes and carries out procedures for effective and efficient selection, acquisition, cataloging, processing, accessing, and maintaining materials and equipment.
Manages the Facility
Organizes the facility and resources in such a way that they reflect the philosophy and goals of the school and its media program.
Carries out Professional Responsibilities
Provides opportunities for personal and professional growth for him/herself as well as for the school’s staff and students. Carries out assigned non-instructional duties; adheres to established laws, policies, rules and regulations and submits accurate reports promptly.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer-driven, and valuing diversity.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Salary : $40,700 - $51,500
