Job Description
Sapient Government Services supports digital transformation work for public sector clients. This team is adding an experienced and self-motivated Finance Project Controller. The Finance Project Controller will wear multiple hats to support several government and non-government projects. This position will also seek ways to improve and standardize current project control functions.
Your Impact:
Reviews contracts and mods to assist program manager with project setup and updates in Costpoint system; assists in the establishment of the work breakdown structure (WBS) for each project;
Develops and maintains burn tools and other financial management tools to monitor financial health of project;
Calculates monthly revenue for both fixed price and T&M (time & material) projects;
Works closely with Finance team to accurately close each month and quarter within a strict deadline;
Assists in the accurate development of the EAC (estimate at completion) and ETC (estimate to completion) and balance sheet analysis; understands and can explain variances with regard to monthly actuals;
Performs financial analysis of budgets and schedules needed to meet contractual/project requirements for assigned programs;
Assesses program performance and tracks the performance against program budgets;
Acts as a key person on project financial analysis issues;
Provides reporting of key program metrics to senior management;
Interfaces with other business units to staff resources and provides instructions to these resources;
Ensures resources are mapped correctly in staffing system.
Reviews contracts and modifications for accuracy. Prepares workflow to ensure all appropriate approvals are received for revenue recognition;
Reviews and submits monthly invoices to clients; ensures that the required signatures and/or backup is included;
Monitors accounts receivables and follows-up with clients as needed;
Works with client executives to validate and update the sales pipeline
Analyzing, interpreting financial performance
Qualifications
Your Skills & Experience
At least 2 years professional experience with Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or relevant experience
US Citizenship required
Proficient with MS Office, specifically Excel and Word
Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
Ability to perform work independently and with minimal supervision
Able to work with all levels of staff
Demonstrated problem-solving and research skills
Attention to detail a must
Self-Motivated
Ability to multi-task
Set Yourself Apart With
Previous experience in public sector financial project management highly preferred
Previous experience with Deltek a nice-to-have
