Job Description
The ideal Scrum Master we are looking to join our team are servant leaders who keep a Scrum team(s) running and growing, facilitate the Scrum Events, foster collaboration amongst team members, coach technical excellence, and generally support a self-organized team(s). The Scrum Master we are looking for should be aware of, and growing into, the embodiment of agile that one expects from a Scrum Master, namely embracing servant leadership and displaying the behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with agile methods.
Education/ Practice
- Scrum Master Training
- 3 years of relevant experience; 2 years in a technical software development environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience using Agile frameworks and DevOps
- Must have a minimum certifications: CSM, PSM I or higher
Preferred Credentials
- Other Lean methodology credentials – like Lean Start-up, Six Sigma, Kanban, etc. a plus, but not required.
Practicing Experience
- JIRA/Easy BI Experience
- Track record in helping several Scrum teams mature using the Scrum Framework.
- Experience with independently transitioning software teams to a variation of agile process in the past.
- Ability to identify and create metrics and data for the team/product to the organization
- Large organization experience - Large Scale projects, Scaled Release Planning
- Ability to communicate agile concepts and benefits to the team and stakeholders, come up with solution that are creative and work with leadership.
- Ability to course correct unhealthy and anti-patterns at a team level and an organization level also.
- Ability to coach the Product Owner in Scrum Events, backlog health and refinement and providing value to the end user, etc.
- Strong facilitation, teaching and presenting skills
- Excellent communication skills with solid oral, written, and presentation skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills are required
- Able to work with up to two teams including startup of a new team and mentoring members of already established teams while looking out toward the wider organization
- Needs to be able to make change and implement process improvement initiatives/innovation
Key Responsibilities
- Coach to product software that is of the highest technical excellence, including high quality, definition of done, refactoring and addressing technical debt, etc.
- Embrace servant leadership and display the behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with agile methods
- Communicate with stakeholders and leadership on the health of the teams and provide two-way feedback.
- Ability to identify metrics for the organization (not velocity and burndown/burnup chart)
- Coach and facilitate the teams through the 5 Scrum events and mentoring to the 5 Scrum Values according to the Scrum Guide.
- Work with teams that are on location and in other offices. Needs to be creative in bringing remote teams together.
- Hold teams accountable to constantly improve and innovate, “This is how we have always done it” is not acceptable.
- Manage dependencies both internal and external to the Scrum teams and Product and ensure clean communication and handoff of dependencies.
- Uphold and be the guardian of the Scrum Framework, ensure the correct use of Scrum Framework.
- Remove impediments to the teams, releases, product that keeps value from being provided at the end of every iteration.
- Provide support for the organization-wide agile adoption strategy and rollout plans
- Ability to create artifacts that contribute to the Business Agility Knowledge Base.
