TITLE: SAFETY MANAGER
REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: The Safety Manager is responsible for developing and implementing health and safety plans, enforcing policies, and evaluating practices and facilities to ensure compliance with legal guidelines. Their focus is on promoting occupational health and safety and minimizing risks for employees.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Evaluate safety practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
Develop and execute health and safety plans and policies in the workplace to maintain a safe workplace and according to legal guidelines.
Conduct training sessions for health and safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitor compliance by preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker’s compensation claims.
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures.
Ensure all required records and reports are submitted regarding health and safety awareness, issues and statistics.
Oversee and coordinate on site job hazard analysis.
Oversee and coordinate on-site safety trainings which address specific needs of the project, including but not limited to fall protection training, scaffold user training, forklift, and mobile elevated platform training.
Use a continuous improvement approach to safety to engage field personnel and leadership in support of the company’s safety objectives.
Qualifications:
At least 6 years of experience as a Safety Manager; preferably in the construction industry for large commercial and industrial projects. BS/BA in safety management or relevant field experience preferred.
Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines.
Ability to produce reports and develop relevant policies, including data analysis and risk assessment.
Excellent organizational and motivational skills, with an outstanding attention to detail and observation.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
Current OSHA 30-hour Course Certification, OSHA 500-hour Course Certification, First Aid and CPR Certified.
Crane/ Rigging experience a must.
Must know how to administer and monitor the implementation of all protective equipment.
Experience in Microsoft office products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
