Mentor Teacher

The Puffer Child Care Center is seeking an experienced educator to join our team as a Mentor Teacher. This is a new position that affords the qualified participant the opportunity to work in classrooms with teachers as coach and mentor and as a member of the administrative team to plan and implement professional development for new and experienced staff. Puffer is a vibrant, community based early care and education program with a long history of supporting families in Lamoille County.

Teachers at Puffer Child Care Center are a group of highly passionate and fun-loving individuals. In the classroom, teachers have the freedom to set up their classroom and create developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the children's interests and the teachers' passions. The sky's the limit!

Responsibilities

• Choose a topic of expertise to explore within the Puffer Community to support the overall program.
• Meeting with the Director to meet the responsibilities of the role.
• Model positive classroom teaching and leadership and demonstrate a willingness to work alongside classroom staff.
• Encourage staff to develop leadership skills by participating in community events and relevant committees.
• Participate in at least 1 community board or committee related to Puffer Childcare Center.

Requirements

A minimum of an Associate’s degree in education, Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree preferred, with at least 3 years of classroom experience and at least one year as a supervisor or mentor or the equivalent degree in social work or related field with at least 3 years of experience in school settings and at least one year as a supervisor or mentor. Puffer will also consider experience, in replacement of the educational requirements (if they align with the Northern Lights career ladder).

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
