Pulaski High School is seeking a Science teacher interested in building collaborative learning environments that support innovative practices. Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm Job Goal: To implement an approved educational program and establish a classroom environment that is consistent with our District Philosophy, fosters integrated learning, thinking, cooperation, and personal and social growth. To ensure that students are the nucleus of the school system and our educational decisions are guided by what we consider to be best for students so that they are given every reasonable opportunity to realize their best selves. Qualifications: A current teaching license Knowledge of effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities The ability to maintain a positive learning environment Strong interpersonal and communication skills Current First Aid/CPR certified or must obtain Demonstrated ability to: work collaboratively carry out emergency/crisis response procedures perform all computer technology tasks associated with the position maintain confidentiality communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, patrons Commitment to the Pulaski Board of Education Educational Philosophy Demonstrated skills in positive human relations and cultural competence Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict management *Essential Job Functions: Must be able to: arrive at work promptly and attend regularly follow directions and work well with others work under the stress of deadlines concentrate and perform tasks accurately react to change productively perform other tasks as assigned Planning and Preparation Demonstrate knowledge of content pedagogy Demonstrate knowledge of students Select instructional goals and learning targets Plan for the use of resources Design coherent instruction Assess student learning The Classroom Environment Create an environment of respect and rapport Establish a culture for learning Manage classroom procedures Manage student behavior Organize physical space Instruction Communicate clearly and accurately Use questioning and discussion techniques Engage students in learning Provide feedback to students Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness Use ongoing assessment of benchmarks Use techniques that involve multiple intelligences Professional Responsibilities Reflect on teaching Maintain accurate records Communicate with families Contribute to the school district Demonstrate professional growth and development Show professionalism Demonstrate a shared responsibility for student learning Candidates must be able to: 1. commit to the philosophy and goals of the Pulaski Community School District and Pulaski High School. 2. engage students using a variety of practices and strategies, providing scaffolds for those who need extra support when working with more challenging content. 3. demonstrate skills in problem-solving and conflict management. 4. demonstrate leadership skills and have the ability to work effectively with groups and individuals. 5. work with other department members in implementing a curriculum in the best interests of the students. 6. work collaboratively inside a team structure. 7. maintain confidentiality. 8. communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, and administration. 9. demonstrate skills in positive human relations and cultural competence. 10. willingly learn from the experiences within a Professional Learning Community. Science licensure required: (2600) Science, 1606 Life & Environmental Science and/or 1615 Environmental Studies. Preference will be given to candidates with Broadfield Science (1601), General Science (1620), Biology (1605), or Chemistry (610/1610), Physics (625/1625), and Earth/Space Science (635/1635) or commensurate certification and/or training that allows for an AP Environmental Science course load to be delivered.
