The Role:
The Vendor Manager position exists to ensure that there is an adequate capacity and capability of contracted service and trade vendors to fulfill the needs of the field teams for each new client. The vendor manager will partner with the Director of Field Management and territory managers to leverage the use of existing vendors when possible and source new vendors when required. The vendor manager is accountable for understanding vendor needs for each assigned territory, sourcing vendors according to those needs and managing the vendor relationship with Punchlist to maximize vendor retention.
Job Duties:
- Manages the sourcing retention of contracted service organizations, vetting against standards including, but not limited to: a) willingness to work under negotiated fee-for-service terms; b) use of preferred manufacturers’ products in completing work; and c) utilization of Punchlist’s workflow tools.
- Identifies the respective field teams’ service needs as well as ensuring that there are enough contracted vendors to satisfy that demand.
- Leverages distance relationship building strategies to effectively manage the business lifecycle of all contracted service organizations with a critical component of maintaining an effective vendor performance feedback loop from the Punchist field team.
- Mediates escalated issues from the field teams and/or contracted service vendors for the appropriate resolution that serves the long-term needs of Punchlist and its customers. In cases where a vendor(s) is/are not meeting expectations, the Vendor Manager may be required to provide coaching for improvement, formal vendor disciplinary action(s), or ultimately terminate the relationship.
- Ensures training of all newly-contracted vendors to create the appropriate level of understanding and awareness of Punchlist’s business standards (e.g., preferred materials vendor programs, invoicing process, quality expectations, etc.) to maximize the likelihood of success with the newly-contracted service vendor.
- Track vendor KPIs that allows measurement of success and continued improvement
What you Bring to the Table:
- At least 4-6 years of experience in direct management of contracted vendor relationships, including onboarding, education of new vendors on business processes (e.g., invoicing, preferred supplier program participation, etc.), compliance auditing and service issue resolution
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Gathers, analyzes, and draws practical conclusions from data, as well as communicates those data findings to others in a manner that translates appropriately to the respective target audience.
- Proven track record of being able to successfully manage multiple vendor relationships and associated work concurrently in an organized manner in a time-sensitive environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Excel; Word (e.g., basic document formatting, etc.); and Outlook (e.g., message composition/formatting, meeting scheduling, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to write with clarity to a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to travel 25% of the time to assigned U.S. geographic market
- Work experience involving the construction or home renovation industries preferred
- Communication style is friendly, concise and professional
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and use independent judgment
