Clinical Postdoctoral Scholar

Purdue University
West Lafayette, IN Full Time
POSTED ON 4/5/2024

Job Summary

Clinical postdoctoral scholar position available on an NIH-funded project led by Dr. Bridgette Kelleher (PI) in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Purdue University. The project (R01HD105502; Optimizing a personalized health approach for virtually treating high-risk caregivers during COVID-19 and beyond) seeks to address the acute mental health needs of caregivers of children with neurogenetic conditions by developing a novel network for delivering personalized triage and digital treatments. Specifically, the project will scale up and integrate a series of brief, evidence-based digital health interventions to support caregiver mental health. This position will expose the individual to a large-scale, multi-site clinical trial using telehealth methods, providing a unique opportunity to develop research and clinical skills in psychology, as well as engaging in professional development with a large, collaborative team.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scholar with strong clinical training in evidence-based approaches for treating mood, anxiety, and stress symptoms in adults. Primary tasks will be supporting the implementation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. The postdoctoral scholar will help to supervise and train graduate student clinicians on the project, and they will lead fidelity coding of treatment sessions. There will be opportunities to support the dissemination of treatment outcomes through conference presentations and manuscripts. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and collaborative, with prior experience with conducting clinical trials. Special consideration will be given to candidates with clinical experience treating caregivers and an interest in neurogenetic conditions.

The position is 40 hours per week (30 hours/week or .75 FTE is possible if desired by candidate) with a possible duration of two years, contingent upon successful performance in the first year. Longer-term employment is possible pending additional funding. Application review begins immediately, with start date as early as January 1, although summer 2023 starts are also possible.

The candidate will work directly with PI Dr. Bridgette Kelleher and study investigators at Purdue University. Activities will be supervised by a licensed clinical psychologist. Remote work is possible, however the candidate is responsible for ensuring any hours accrued meet licensure requirements based on their desired work and/or licensure locations. If the candidate is remote, travel will be required approximately 1 time per semester at the expense of the project.
