Opportunity Summary

The Data Analytics or Business Analyst plays a crucial role in the asset management and finance functions of the company's energy facilities. In addition to gathering information and financial data related to the plants, this professional is responsible for performing data analysis, developing budgets and forecasts, presenting the findings of their analyses, creating dashboards and other presentations, managing task lists, and keeping up to date with regulatory matters and industry developments.

Working Relationships

The Business Analyst will report to one of the PurEnergy Vice Presidents. They will work in tandem to support one or more asset managers and have a dotted line to the PurEnergy VP of Financial Services. The Analyst will also be responsible for interfacing with the client, individuals within PurEnergy (including other finance and support staff) and individuals at PurEnergy’s parent corporation, NAES Corporation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides high level of administrative & analytical support to the asset management and finance functions.
  • Assist with preparation of presentation materials as needed.
  • Assist with financial preparation and perform analyses as requested including coordinate with the Client, Asset Managers and Project Controller team.
  • Analyze and assist in the development of multi-year budgets, prepopulated with recurring line items and items that are known but do not occur every year.
  • Support development of line item budget comparison, with a goal of refining budgets.
  • logging and tracking data for reporting and working with Asset Managers to ensure the task list is accurate, complete, efficient, properly assigned.
  • Using a central data base and other tools, support automatic population of data into reports, whether monthly, quarterly, or annual. This would be coordinated with the Project Controller and Asset Managers.
  • Prepare periodic analysis and reports as required. This includes collection of monthly data and reports from plants and other sources (ISO pricing, invoices) and establish a central data base for data. Extract specific parameters frequently requested and/or used in reports into files/templates for ease of access.
  • Support mapping of Client investment models to budget account codes.
  • Excellent statistical and computer skills, including Excel , Power BI and other data and energy management tools, to improve efficiency and provide business support to PEMS.
  • Analyze and track regulatory affairs and policies and their impacts along with supporting internal and external audits.
  • Compile monthly financial and operations reporting packages from third party asset managers. and disseminate to appropriate team members.
  • Create supporting processes for sourcing, retrieving and integrating internal/external data and information on market and asset operations for business analysis.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Data Analytics with minimum 2 years of experience in an analytical role
  • Ability to works well independently
  • Direct business experience working with asset management and financial accounting at multiple levels
  • Exceptional computer skills working with Microsoft office products, Excel, Power BI or Tableau. and other integration software products.
  • Comfortable with creating excel financial models. Utilize graphs, v-lookup or x-lookup, formulas, pivot tables
  • Able to perform QA/QC review of data and creating data queries. Develop dashboards within Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with different financial modeling tools such as Variance analysis, Price/Volume and Cost Benefit analysis.
  • Ability to perform different job functions at a high level of proficiency in a demanding and constantly shifting environment.
  • Strong and proven presentation and communication skills required.
  • Strong attention to details with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, dependability and time management skills that deliver optimal results.
  • High level of proven interpersonal skills that deliver strong collaboration working effectively with individuals in and outside the organization.
  • Proven experience delivering the product to customers/clients without changes maintaining a high level of excellence exceeding customer expectations
  • Travel may be expected for this position as needed. Could be up to 25%.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, and activities may change at any time with or with little notice.

Work Environment

Work is performed in both an office setting and on industrial sites when traveling, requiring protective clothing and equipment. Extensive travel may be required when visiting project sites. Extended hours may be required as a function of this position.

Physical Demands

  • Close mental and visual application needed to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, using a computer and extensive reading.
  • Ability to speak, hear, and perform repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; climb stairs.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Experience

Preferred
  • 2 - 5 years: Experience with information gathering, financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting, communicating results of analyses, creating board packages and other presentations, managing task lists, and staying abreast of regulatory matters and other industry news.

Education

  • Bachelors or better in Accounting or related field
  • Bachelors or better in Business Administration or related field
