Job Summary
This role will help to drive fact-based analysis and assist in overall business decision making for operational/strategic matters. The Finance Manager will be focused on process excellence, reporting, and helping to uncover key drivers when spending performance deviates from expectations. Qualified applicants should have a genuine interest in Life Science and the market/customer dynamics that drive performance. The Finance Manger will support all major tasks (including reporting, forecasting, business valuations, cap table analytics, process improvement, financial support for business cases, spend tracking, etc.). In addition, he/she will work closely with other functions such as executive leadership team, Legal, operations, program managers scientists, etc.
Position Responsibilities
* Assists with all financial matters that support achievement of strategic and operational objectives; more specifically:
* Actively engage in financial valuation approaches and dynamics such as Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), Net/Risk-Adjusted Present Value (NPV), Real Options (RO), Comparables, ROI, PTRS etc
* Help optimize portfolio by assisting in performing gap analysis and model on how to fill the gap, due diligence, in/out-licensing, partnership, market assessment, and search and evaluation
* Actively seeks opportunities to gain insight into business trends in the industry impacting key accounts and competitors, and utilizes this knowledge to help recommend business solutions.
* Preparing, completing, and ensuring the accuracy of financial models and sophisticated valuation analyses as well as the development of valuation memos
* Lead capital management and cap table analytics for the Finance team
* Assist team in the development of board decks for quarterly board meetings
* Prepare ad hoc analyses for a variety of projects, initiatives and opportunities as needed
* Understanding / experience developing forecasts/budgets and standard reporting packages
* Partner with accounting team to assist in the close process
* "Balanced" approach under the pressure of managing multiple priorities.
* The ability to effectively communicate (e.g. different approaches for a Finance vs. non-Finance audience).
* Supports business decision making on a wide variety of operational matters through fact based analyses. As needed, helps to drive important initiatives to successful completion
* Prepares additional complex ad hoc analyses as required and presents recommendations the CFO and broader executive team. Provides Management organization with all necessary consolidated information in a timely and accurate manner.
* Develops and documents standard financial processes, with a focus on implementing common financial processes and practices.
* Through process improvement and organizational design, improve the efficiency of the finance function and improve finance integrity.
Personal skills and competencies
* 3 to 5 years of experience with demonstrated success in a variety of business environments and Finance positions.
* In-depth knowledge of and experience in asset valuation, especially in Life Science industry required
* Strong insight in portfolio management, prioritization, and maximization
* Places a high value on detailed, accurate, and well-organized output. Applies strong business, problem solving, and financial analysis skills.
* Strong financial planning and reporting skills that generate business insights, adding measurable value. Current knowledge of trends in finance and functional best-practices.
* Must be capable of collecting, assimilating and synthesizing relevant business/operating information and data to develop fact based recommendations and support business decision making.
* Ability to identify a bottleneck in various processes and help to streamline.
* Proven record in effective workload prioritization.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with different stakeholders.
* Experience in pharmaceutical and/or Life Science preferred.
* Technological savvy highly desired (Oracle /Excel - VBA/Macros, etc.).
