Summary
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for starting up and maintaining an operating plan and providing his/her Manager with cost controls, productivity and customer service improvements by providing leadership and operational excellence within the warehouse of Purolator International.
Location: Keasby, NJ
Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm EST, 37.5 hours per week
Requirement to be considered:
- Minimum Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- 2 years Supervisor experience
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
- Superior decision making and problem solving abilities
- Strong planning and organizational abilities
- Good oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skill Requirement
Transportation or freight forwarding experience a plus
Essential Functions
- Directs and controls the operational activities in the facility:
- Direct Supervision and Leadership of the Warehouse Support Rep(s) within the facility
- Build a high performing team through motivation, communication, and organization
- Ensure day-to-day operational flow by performing functions in conjunction with company’s KPI and metrics within the required timeframe
- Responsible for accuracy of branch data entry
- Set and implement objectives and strategies for the warehouse operations in tandem with his/her Manager in accordance with the company’s core purpose, values, direction and priorities:
- Maintain effective internal and external customer relations through direct communications with Client Relationship Representatives and customers
- Supports prescribed training programs of employee relations, health and safety
- Supports decisions on routing of customers shipments to improve service and lower costs
- Operations Reporting Responsibilities:
- Overview of weekly production and employee hours broken down by function / done daily
- Branch Customer Shipments on hand in building no data no processing number / manage and run daily
- Safety Committee Meeting and Inspections/ Report hours and notes posted on line monthly
- Customer piece and weight averages
- Induction Report – overview of each shipment that was processed daily at DTW
- Special projects or other duties as identified by management
Non-Essential Functions
- Responsible for all facets of the facility.
- Equipment, safety, maintenance, upkeep, opening and closing, security, inspections etc.
- Interact with customers and Sales professional as an overlap in responsibilities in the branch and support decisions on changes to insure customer satisfaction
- Visit customers and 3rd party vendors to foster relationships to improve service
- Orient new staff members to the organization and department policies and procedures; review his/her position responsibilities and expectations of performance
- Work with Manager to establish work goals, objectives and standards to be achieved by team
- Help cover the warehouse floor operation when volumes are high or staff is off
Education and/ or Work Experience Requirements:
- Minimum Associates degree or equivalent work experience
- 2 years Supervisor experience
- Transportation or freight forwarding experience a plus
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Must be computer literate and able to process shipments into enterprise system
- Strong ability to learn new software applications
- Understanding of basic Customs Clearance is preferred
- Strong ability to persuade, motivate, and influence others
- Flexibility for occasional shift change during peak season
- This is a physical, fast-paced position that involves continual lifting, lowering and sliding packages that typically weigh 25-35 lbs and may weigh up to 70 lbs
- Must be able to work in varying temperature conditions during the season
