Position Overview
The Investment Product Analyst (IPA) will work closely with the Investment Directors supporting global asset allocation strategies to perform client/prospect portfolio analysis, create and maintain value-added marketing communications, and produce market and portfolio commentary. The role encompasses both new business activity as well as existing investment client service. As part of this role, the IPA will work closely with the distribution teams within Institutional, DCIO, and Retail, as well as with the global asset allocation investment management team and a wide range of Putnam departments.
Position Responsibilities
Develop communication pieces including monthly and quarterly product marketing materials and analysis; work with Communications, the Product Information Team, and Compliance to generate client specific materials, pitch books, and supply portfolio-specific analysis; maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the client review books and all institutional marketing material; generate both custom and standard retail materials.
Evaluate portfolio performance, interpret performance attribution analyses, track global capital markets, and understand investment philosophy, process, and outlook in order to formulate investment themes for client and prospect communications.
Provide competitive analysis and articulate differentiating factors for Putnam capabilities and products. Maintain highly effective marketing materials and substantiate points with comprehensive analysis. Communicate with the investment management organization.
Perform analysis and research for client-driven and team-driven special projects and ad-hoc reports. Conduct RFP reviews. Serve as knowledge base for Putnam and external systems.
Act as back-up and substitute for Investment Directors. Liaison between institutional marketing and investment teams; conduct pre-meetings for sales and client meetings; and deliver meaningful responses to urgent requests.
Minimum 2 years’ experience in the mutual fund industry, preferably in an investment strategies or sales and marketing group.
Bachelors degree
CFA or progression towards CFA Certification preferred
Series 7 and 63 desired
