What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at PV American, Inc.?
Our manufacturing company (west Houston) is seeking a CNC Programmer with experience programming lathes and 3-, 4, 4.5-axis CNC mills. You will develop new CNC programs for production and R&D runs or modify existing programs for different machines. During the manufacturing process, you will perform quality checks with the machine operator to ensure the program is producing parts according to specifications, making manual adjustments if necessary. You may also work with the engineers to look for product modifications that might improve design. Although no formal education is required, applicants should be familiar with the computer-aided design programs Mastercam, Edgecam, Fusion 360.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop CNC programs for production and R&D runs
- Analyze drawings to determine dimensions and to choose cutting tools, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Modify existing programs for different machines
- Maintain tooling database
- Make manual program adjustments as necessary
- Troubleshoot issues during the manufacturing process
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Completion of a technical or associate degree program a plus
- Experience programming lathes, vertical and horizontal 3-5 axis mills
- Experience programming wire and plunge EDMs is a plus
- Familiarity with Mastercam and EDGECAM and FANUC controls
- Advanced math skills
- Solid experience with exotic materials: Inconel, K-500, BeCu, titanium and more
- Tier 1 part designs (intricate designs, tight tolerances)
- Drafting
