Position: Production Supervisor
Description: The Production Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining operating procedures and process controls, and directing the activities in the operating units to manufacture and ship products to customers in a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost-effective manner. The Production Supervisor will also be responsible for managing small capital projects typically less than $100K.
To fulfill these responsibilities, the Production Supervisor is empowered to manage work priority, engage the proper resources to develop and implement equipment, process, and administrative standards, identify training opportunities throughout the plant, and recommend asset selection criteria and installation standards. The Production Supervisor will monitor department metrics relative to safety, environment, reliability, quality, efficiency, and cost control to continually improve performance.
Responsibilities (May include but are not limited to):
· Provide direct supervision for the Operators and Powerhouse Engineers
· Operator Training Program
· Start Up, Shutdown, Emergency and Routine Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Checklists
· Critical Operating Parameters (COP)
· Engineering Controls
· Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
· Pressure Profile
· Mist and Moisture Testing
· Individual Asset Performance
· Raw Material Efficiency and Utility Usage Rates
· Operator Condition Monitoring for optimal asset management
· Shutdown and TA Planning, Scheduling, and Project Management
· Maintenance Work Orders and Backlog Management
· Zero overdue PM’s and HSES corrective actions
· Project management for small capital and expense projects
· Project scope development and justification
Leadership Team Responsibilities
- Provide 24/7 support for critical situations.
- Participate in Management of Change process as needed.
- Participate in Responsible Care and Department of Homeland security initiatives.
- Assist sites in SOP development, review, and implementation.
- Recognize and reward good performance, correct poor performance.
- Incident Commander and Emergency Response Team Member
- Rotating Duty Supervisor
- Department KPI’s
- Identify and facilitate training opportunities for plant personnel.
- Provide support and vacation coverage for peers as needed.
- Participate in other activities and assignments as necessary.
Supervision Received
Must be disciplined, self-motivated, and mentally alert with the ability to work with minimal guidance and supervision to meet plant objectives and deadlines.
Required Education / Competencies / Equivalent Experience (Prior to hire / transfer):
§ Excellent safety standards; skilled in following safety practices, recognizing hazards, and mitigating risks.
§ BS in Chemical Engineering strongly preferred but not required for qualified candidates.
§ Chemical manufacturing experience
§ Supervisor skills and experience
§ Able to work as a team player and as a leader to promote a safe and reliable culture in the plant.
§ Strong knowledge and experience with CMMS, Maintenance Planning and Scheduling, PM Optimization, PdM Technologies, and RCFA Methodologies
§ Positive change leader
§ Good time management skills and work ethic.
§ Strong willingness to learn and desire to be hands on in a plant setting.
§ Demonstrate professional demeanor, ethical conduct, and excellent reputation for integrity.

Preferred Experience
§ Experience working in a corrosive environment.
§ Experience working in a PSM and RMP facility.
§ Experience in applying industry RAGAGEPs – Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (API, NACE, ISA, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)
§ Experience developing training program for Operators and Maintenance as it relates to process safety and equipment reliability.
§ Experience in PHAs, HAZOPs and LOPA
§ Experience in Total Productive Maintenance, Six Sigma, 5S, RCFA, FMECA or RCM
Location / Reporting Relationship
The position is based in Chicago and reports to the PVS Chemical Solutions – Chicago Plant Manager.
