Manages a team who ensure the proper survey planning, real-time monitoring of surface and subsea positioning integrity, installation and maintenance of positioning sensors, and quality assurance and delivery of positioning data.
Main Responsibilities
Manages the navigation team (Shift Leader Surveyors and Surveyors):
In collaboration with the immediate supervisor, assesses departmental personnel based on HR and technical requirements.
Defines the individual development plans of his/her team members according to needs.
Ensures that the team are properly prepared for their assigned tasks and leads by example.
Defines, prioritizes and supervises department tasks.
Acts temporarily as SL Surveyor or Surveyor as required.
Advises / assists the immediate supervisor in mobilization and survey planning, survey contract management, crisis management. Reviews and amends the relevant aspects of quality control plan/start-up sheet
Participates in the vessel performance review, proposes opportunities for improvements
Champions new or redesigned equipment that may be introduced to the crews by Technical Support or R&D.
Acts as a contact point for IT for rudimentary V-sat troubleshooting.
Holds the objective to maximize crew productivity by
Operating equipment Under the direct supervision of the Operations Superintendent when deploying or recovering nodes.
Ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of positioning data and accompanying logs.
Maintains configuration of equipment, for the department.
Ensuring the team maintain real-time acquisition compliance with PXGEO-defined technical standards, procedures, and contractual requirements.
Maintaining the equipment:
Implements maintenance plan based on office recommendations and supplier manuals (troubleshoots, repairs, preventative, predictive & condition-based maintenance)
Documents and reports equipment maintenance in TMM, and other relevant tools
Monitors maintenance indicators and set-up corrective actions
Requests for assistance, when necessary, expertise from other departments on board, external intervention, based on technical analysis and specification of needs, through the fault reporting system or the shipyard work list. Supervises contractors.
Manages spare parts and stock, anticipates needs, requisitions through the purchasing system, tracking and reception of shipments.
Proposes Capex investments to immediate supervisor.
Technical Qualifications and skills:
Bachelor of Science in hydrographic surveying, mapping, geodetics, marine engineering, subsea engineering or similar along with:
More than 5 years’ experience of deep-water subsea ROV survey operations to include managing a shift and scheduling routine acquisition tasks
Familiar with:
Industry standard surface and subsea positioning software such as Starfix, 4DNAV or Navipac, including configuration, operation and troubleshooting
Surface positioning systems including GNSS and AHRS such as Fugro Starfix GNSS and Kongsberg Seapath
Subsea and ROV positioning systems such as Kongsberg HiPAP, iXBlue PHINS 6000
Systems integration with survey software, sensors and shared systems on ROV and vessel
