Fire Pump Technician

This position is looking for a skilled and experienced Fire Pump Technician to join our team. The Fire Pump Technician will be responsible for the installation, inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire pumps in accordance with industry codes, standards, and regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring the reliability and functionality of fire pump systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:  Install, test, and commission new fire pump systems, according to blueprints, specifications, and local codes. Conduct routine inspections and perform preventive maintenance on fire pumps and associated equipment to ensure proper functioning and compliance with standards. Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with fire pump systems, including motors, controllers, valves, and piping, to identify and resolve malfunctions or deficiencies promptly. Perform repairs, replacements, and adjustments to components of fire pump systems as needed to maintain operational efficiency. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or vocational training in fire protection, mechanical/electrical systems, or related field is preferred. Proven experience working as a Fire Pump Technician or in a similar role within the fire protection industry. Comprehensive knowledge of fire pump systems, their components, and their operation, including NFPA standards and local codes. Proficiency in troubleshooting techniques and using specialized tools and equipment for testing and maintenance. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces. Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions. Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call hours for emergency repairs or maintenance Conduct flow tests, pressure tests, and performance evaluations of fire pumps to verify functionality and compliance with regulations. Document all service and maintenance activities accurately, including inspection reports, test results, and work performed, ensuring records are up-to-date and accessible. Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and relevant stakeholders to coordinate installations, upgrades, and maintenance schedules effectively.
