2ND SHIFT - QUALITY TECHNICIAN

JOB SUMMARY: Performs dimensional layout inspection of prototype and production parts. Performs GR&R studies and capability studies to support the PPAP process. Successfully implements ISO 9001:2008 methods and techniques into current operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include the following (but not limited to as they may be modified as necessary to accommodate ISO 9001:2008):

1. Performs first article dimensional layout of new parts to verify tooling accuracy.
2. Performs dimensional layout verification of parts to verify tooling modifications or repairs.
3. Performs layouts of components when outside service is quoted.
4. Records dimensional results properly and legibly for use in the PPAP process.
5. Performs Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies as required.
6. Performs capability studies as required
7. Must use Micro-Vu and its software in the dimensional layout of parts.
8. Must use various hand-held instruments and gages in the dimensional layout of parts.
9. Must use blueprints to interpret customer requirements.
10. Must prepare complete dimensional layout reports, which include numbering the drawing to identify the corresponding dimension.
11. Must effectively communicate with the Quality Assurance Manager and other personnel with the organization as required.
12. Must effectively communicate with customers as necessary.
13. Supports and implements procedures and activities that support and conform to ISO 9001:2008.
14. Takes interest and participate in the health and safety of the company and housekeeping duties (within the Quality Lab, the entire plant, and outside the plant).
15. Takes an active role in recommending improvements and/or changes that will improve and/or eliminate non-value added activities.
16. Cleans work area, machines and equipment as required. Performs other routine duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED), and/or 1-2 years job related experience in Quality Assurance Inspection, preferably in a plastic injection molding environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Individual must be able to read and comprehend inspection instructions and procedures as outlined in the Quality Manual. Must be able to write simple instructions as it relates to their job and write clear and legible correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to complete basic math computations (add, subtract, multiply and divide), understand decimals and fractions, and be able to convert metric to English (or reverse).

VISUAL ACUITY: Near acuity and accommodation are required to interpret blueprints, examine intricate features of production parts, and to read instructions, labels, memos or other documents, which may pertain to the Quality Assurance function.

HEARING ABILITY: Normal hearing capabilities to safely carry out job duties and functions in a normal factory environment (able to respond to fork truck horns, machine sounds and bells, PA system etc.).

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding, solve and analyze problems, comprehend written and/or verbal communication and successfully manage their time as it relates to this position.
