Job Description
Responsible for improving the effectiveness of the workforce and equipment by developing and implementing process improvement projects as it relates to controls systems in production and developing standard processing procedures.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Research, design, and develop controls systems for industrial use utilizing knowledge in engineering and consultation with equipment manufacturers.
- Monitor current equipment systems to ensure they are operating as intended.
- Provide recommendations/suggestions to modernize systems as necessary
- Manage and monitor software upgrades and back-ups for all equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment control related issues.
- Manage and monitor temperature controllers throughout the site including inventory of controllers, programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance as necessary.
- Develop cost estimates to provide project quotes for internal review.
- Effectively lead projects to ensure they are delivered within scope and agreed upon timelines, utilizing the defined level of manpower and established third party costs. This includes:
- Planning: Determine what needs to be done, who is going to do it, when it needs to be done and the deliverables. Key planning duties include defining and clarifying scope, development of the overall project plan including budget, task sequence, schedule, milestones, risk assessment, fiscal plan, quality assurance plan and policies & procedures that support the achievement of objectives.
- Organizing: Set up the project team within the context of the existing organizational structure. Key organizing duties include defining the organizational structure of the project team including identifying roles, positions, and accountabilities within the team; identifying services to be outsourced; and staffing of project positions.
- Leadership: Influencing, motivating, communicating, and resolving conflicts to execute the project plan to successfully achieve objectives. Key leadership duties include setting team direction, coordinating activities across organizational functions, holding team members accountable, and selecting team members.
- Control: Keeping the project on track. Tracking/monitoring progress toward meeting objectives, maintaining budget, evaluating the cause of deviations from the plan, evaluating and correcting problems. Key controlling duties include defining project baselines, tracking progress, reporting status, and determining & taking corrective action when needed. Work with various internal and external team members on projects to meet schedules and project deliverables.
- Post Project Evaluation: Conducting post-project debriefs on all completed projects documenting financial results and project ‘things gone right’ and ‘things gone wrong’ for future project lessons learned and continuous process improvement.
- Reporting: Regularly providing reports on progress of project to all stakeholders.

Qualifications
Education/Experience
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field, plus minimum two (2) years of engineering experience working with and implementing various control systems for the manufacturing industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Controls Engineering. Working knowledge and ability to design, implement, and successfully startup control systems, which involves the application of advanced computer/PLC/HMI programming, electrical controls knowledge, and engineering skills. Knowledge, skills, and ability to use structured problem solving and process improvement methodologies. Ability to identify specific key components to be used in various equipment and control systems and evaluate current processes and equipment for safety, reliability, and performance.
Project Management. Knowledge of principals of project management, including creation of vision and mission, establishing goals or objectives, establishing project teams, applying comprehensive root cause analysis, implementing intervention, ensuring organizational alignment, and measuring progress and success is preferred. Excellent planning and relationship building skills. Ability to liaise with middle and upper management for scope negotiation in a manner that upholds Pyrotek’s values and reflects positively on the department.
Technical Skills. Ability to effectively work with a wide variety of equipment based on industrial process controls, including PLC Programmable Logic Controls, HMI screens, in-process measuring devices, data transmission, storage devices and drives. Working knowledge of data logging systems and communication protocols.
Planning and Organizational Skills. Ability to prioritize and plan work activities. Exceptional professionalism, prioritization, time management and organizational skills. Ability to set goals that align workload with strategic goals and knowledge of market and competition.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand; frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel, kneeling and reach with hands or arms; occasionally required to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, and power lifts, talk or hear. Team member is required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Working Environment
While performing the essential responsibilities of this position the team member will work in a manufacturing environment. While in manufacturing areas, the team member may also be exposed to moderate background noise, moderate amounts of airborne graphite dust, presence of natural and artificial light, exposure to work temperatures from ambient to controlled, hard surfaces for standing and walking. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
Additional Information
Base salary starts at $60k annually, with potential to start higher depending on relative experience.
