What are the responsibilities and job description for the Weld Supervisor position at Q.E.D. Systems?
Job Description: The Weld Supervisor reports directly to and assists the Production Manager in planning and executing welding and structural requirements in the QED shop and at remote work sites aboard US Navy Ships. In addition, supports the Quality Assurance program in maintaining welder qualifications.
Duties include:
- Provide direction and leadership to the structural team.
- Ensure training, qualification, and certifications of structural welders, pipe welders, braziers, and fitters are up to date.
- Supports the QA Team to ensure compliance with NAVSEA Drawings and Military standards such as, NAVSEA Technical Publication 271, MIL-STD-1689A, MIL-STD-2035, MIL-STD-22D, 0900-LP-001-7000, S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248, and S9074-AR-GIB-010/278
- Ensure the structural area and equipment is properly maintained.
Job Requirements / Skill Sets: The candidate must be a U.S. citizen, have a High School Diploma or equivalent, possess a valid Driver License, have reliable transportation, be able to climb vertical/inclined ladders to access work areas aboard US Navy ships, be physically able to work aboard ship under varying environmental conditions (heat & humidity), and comply with OSHA safety regulations. All applicants must provide a resume, pass a drug screening test, pass a pre-hire background check, be eligible for a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) credential, and be eligible for a Government Security Clearance.
Previous supervisory experience in fabrication, installation, repair, and quality inspection of shipboard structures, plumbing, sewage, and piping systems is highly desirable. Must be proficient in utilizing Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
