QAI has an exciting career opportunity within the testing department. We are currently seeking an experienced Compliance Engineer to support the Electrical Product Safety and EMC Department at our Mentor, Ohio location. As a compliance engineer, your responsibilities will include the testing of various systems, evaluating electrical safety and electromagnetic field effects on electrical equipment, and confirming compliance with the applicable standards. The ideal candidate will be someone who is positive, engaging, a motivated learner, an effective communicator, and thrives in a team environment.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will perform, but not be limited to, the following duties:

  • Maintains a high level of technical competence in the field of testing, inspection and/or certification to ensure validity of test results, including understanding of several US, Canadian and International standards.
  • Conducts unsupervised testing, inspection or evaluation, data analysis and report preparation.
  • Assists supervisor or manager in the supervision of testing, data analysis and test report preparation.
  • Deals directly with clients to understand the scope of work and ensure work is carried out properly and on schedule.
  • Ensures resources are available for projects.
  • Has responsibility for ensuring assigned projects are completed as scheduled.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts, standard requirements and QAI processes to clients.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret standards. Seeks assistance from technical manager when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will:

Minimum
    1. Technical Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
    2. Electrical and Mechanical aptitude
    3. Basic ability and understanding to read electrical, mechanical, pneumatic diagrams.
    4. Excellent written/oral communication skills
    5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently and with team members.
    6. Comfortable operating in a hands-on working and learning environment.
    7. Ability to travel (~ 25%)
Preferred
    • Experience working in the testing/certification industry.
    • Knowledge of IEC / ISO standards relating to electrical products would be an asset.
    • Possess the ability to read and understand complex standards, regulations and directives for multiple industries.
    • Previous experience with Electrical Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility would be an asset.

  • Able to perform simple and complex testing and explain results with a high degree of knowledge to clients and others within the organization.
  • Good working knowledge of the test methods in their specific discipline.
  • Able to apply general knowledge in a discipline to various testing methods, even unfamiliar test methods and develop a plan to complete projects.
  • Able to multi-task with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintains a sense of ownership and responsibility for projects assigned to them.
  • Able to coordinate projects across departments or across the organization to ensure customer satisfaction.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Candidate must hold a valid driver license.
  • Candidate must hold a valid passport or be able to obtain a valid passport and be able to travel to international locations (mostly US travel).
