QC Conveyors is searching for a Buyer, responsible for supporting Purchasing, Production, Engineering and Customer Service quote requests. This position will require a person with excellent documentation, organization, and communication skills with the ability to learn quickly and improve existing operations, systems and methods. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail is required.

The Buyer is a member of the Purchasing team and collaborates with the other functional teams (Sales, Engineering, Finance, HR & Manufacturing Operations) on executing company strategies, meeting budgets, and the work unit planned processes. This position must demonstrate hands-on leadership in unison with the Purchasing Manager on implementing strong cultural beliefs and values throughout the organization.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties as assigned.

• Assists in purchase order management to fill production/parts orders by monitoring and expediting purchase orders.
• Evaluates inventory utilization, creates, reviews and submits purchase orders.
• Sources and carries out new vendor qualification activities.
• Negotiates with vendors to secure best pricing, payment and shipping terms.
• Notifies management if requested deliveries cannot be met and communicates new delivery dates.
• Confirms receipt of purchase order to the supplier
• Manages confirmations to ensure pricing and delivery dates are accurate and contact suppliers on past due purchase orders and reschedule receipts accordingly.
• Handles all quote requests from Sales, Engineering and Customer Service for custom orders.
• Manages customer backlog report to ensure timely delivery from suppliers.
• Expedites production parts/customer orders as needed.
• Places MRO and Expense purchase orders from purchase requisitions.
• Enters Expense, VMI, raw material and Consignment purchase orders as needed.
• Maintains on time purchase orders from suppliers.
• Ensures company policies and procedures are reviewed often and notifies the Supply Chain Manager when such policies or procedures may need to be revised to increase work efficiency in the department.
• Observes safety and security procedures; Uses equipment and materials properly; Reports potentially unsafe conditions.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of ERP/MRP systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products, especially Microsoft Excel.
• Displays original thinking and creativity; meets challenges with resourcefulness; generates suggestions for improving work/processes.
• Learns quickly when facing new problems; open to change; strives for continuous improvement of self and processes.
• Excellent communication both oral and written.
• Knowledge of production and inventory control functions
• Experience with lean concepts and tools
• Knowledge of purchasing and manufacturing systems
• Strong analytical, administrative, and organizational skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Stand, walk, or be mobile for up to an eight-hour shift; ascend and push, and pull up to 50 lbs.; bend, twist and reach to check freight, stack boxes, and label.
