General Summary
Qualcomm's Chip Architecture multi-site team of hardware, software architects and systems engineers are driving analysis and defining next-generation architectures for our system-on-chip (SoC) products for the smartphone, tablet, connected camera, wearable, IoT, Automotive, Data-Center, Edge, client compute and other product categories. We have exciting & dynamic technical positions available in the following areas of expertise: Digital SoC systems, Control Plane Architecture, Debug, Performance, Power and Thermal Management
Description:
A successful candidate will engage collaboratively across the company with core Hardware design & verification, Software, Marketing and product planning teams to architect market-leading SoC products with best-in-class performance and power. The candidate will drive efforts to develop and prototype new system solutions and approaches. These new and enhanced products span data-center, virtual reality, machine learning, automotive, and IoT use cases. The candidate will be in a highly visible position with an excellent opportunity to influence Qualcomm's technical direction, to lead the industry and change the world!
Areas of Expertise (the more the better):
Candidates should have one or more of the following areas of knowledge and/or expertise:
- SoC / Computer Architecture
- Reset, Clocking and Boot Architecture
- Resource and Power Control
- Power and performance optimization, simulation and modeling
- ARM Coresight Architecture Experience/Knowledge
- Experience in developing architectures to support system level debug.
- Silicon debug Experience
- Knowledge of System and Circuit Reliability features
- Digital Hardware Design
- Verification/Test
- Linux/Android/OS Exposure
- SystemC/C /Perl/Python/Other languages
- Machine Learning
- Embedded Systems
Possible Assignments Depending on Area of Expertise :
- Architect market-leading smartphone, tablet, connected camera, wearable, IoT, Automotive and other SoC products with best-in-class performance and power
- Architect System on Chip Power Management and Resource control
- Architect Chip Clocking, Reset and Boot controllers
- Architect trace and design time debug features
- Conduct hands-on workload analysis including performance and/or power characterizations to help define our SoC architecture plans;
- Collaborate with HW and SW teams to define best-in-class circuit and memory technologies;
- Deploy simulators, profilers, or even real hardware to provide quantitative justification for architectural directions;
- Effectively communicate experimental results, review with technical leads and peers, analyze outstanding issues;
- Invent and file patents on technical solutions to relevant problems;
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- 7 years of Systems engineering or related work experience.
- 2 years of experience in one or more system architecture technology areas and products (e.g., Power System, Shared Resource Management, Limits/Thermal Management, Hardware Islands).
Preferred Skills and Experience Qualifications
- BS Degree required, MS or PhD degree in related field highly desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate on projects with multiple teams and disciplines
- Ability to develop and improve methodologies for experiments and analysis in the specific area of expertise
- Experience or Education involving hardware, micro-architecture and software
