What are the responsibilities and job description for the REMOTE SYSTEMS ENGINEER position at QED Systems LLC?
QED Systems, LLC, is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer to join our team to support our customer, PM IS&A. This is a remote position with occasional travel to APG, MD for key events.
Duties:
- Performs a variety of engineering work in the development of an operable system capable of meeting requirements within imposed constraints including mass, cost and schedule.
- Work with the technical team to define, design, and produce technical documentation for inter.
- Support CD2 DevSecOps (DSO) implementation of the CI/CD pipeline. Help develop and refine processes to manage the pipeline effectively.
- Designs and/or analyzes subsystem interfaces to ensure that subsystems are integrated and work together to form a viable complete system.
- Performs functional analysis of a system to ensure it meets performance criteria and mission constraints and to feed the analysis results back to the subsystem development teams.
- Engineering generalist with knowledge in several different engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, and aerospace.
- Formulates, recommends, and directs operations and procedures to resolve engineering and/or technical problems regarding operations, staffing, and equipment utilization on a specific project or projects.
- Provides technical assistance and instruction relative to design problems and the resolution of construction or operating difficulties.
- Conducts special studies and investigations related to project activities and recommends changes as appropriate to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and meet changed or new requirements.
- Analyzes project requirements and provides information and instruction for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, designing, and modifying equipment as appropriate.
- Plans and coordinates the work of other engineers and technical personnel, with completed assignments subject to minimum review of overall results.
- Trains, directs, and assists the efforts of other personnel, as required, to fulfill the objectives of the assignment.
- May supervise lower level engineers.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in designing or coding required.
- Familiarity with the various ways to license software and the trade-offs of each.
- Skills in PowerPoint to build basic program schedules, milestones, and course of action briefs.
Required Clearance/Other:
- ACTIVE CLEARANCE LEVEL REQUIRED: Top Secret w/ SCI
- Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, per Executive Order 14042, subject to exemptions as required by law.
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Electrical, Electronic, System or Computer Engineering; Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Seven (7) years of direct experience performing installation, configuration and troubleshooting of information technology systems.
- Experience administering (installing, configuring, and troubleshooting) systems running in Windows, Linux, and VMWare environments.
- Experience in the intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance mission area.
- C2 experience a plus.
Travel:
Up to 25% travel is expected for this position. Required to travel to APG office once a month and travel to support up to 4 test events per year. Travel may include continental United States and outside continental United States locations.
Work Environment:
This position may be performed in a variety of locations, including but not limited to, commercial and/or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, and test & evaluation and proving grounds.

- Withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and computer use.

- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as glasses/goggles (eyes), ear plugs/muffs (hearing), hard hats, breathing respirators/masks, and face masks (in response to government COVID-19 mandates).
- Withstand exposure to noise from operating equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full‐time position, Monday through Friday. Flexibility around core hours. Travel may occur outside of normal core hours.
