GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB
Hourly, entry level position for an organized, detailed oriented individual who will develop the ability to listen, comprehend, and decipher customer/sales requests, and translate into workable design solutions to support and grow our business. As the individual learns, they will build a foundation of understanding technology used and understanding of various printing/production processes. Work is done under the supervision and guidance of a member of the team. As strengths develop, there is opportunity to advance as a Technical Designer or move into an alternate position, such as Product or Graphic Designer.
Responsibilities:
- Support & formatting of daily projects originating with the Product Designer
- Detailed documentation of design (spec Sheets)
- Creation of Dummies
- Creation of Templates
- Order Conformation (support)
- Liaison to manufacturing (support)
- USPS Approvals via Mailing Team (support)
- Attend Pre-production & other informational meetings
- Optional - Comp & Presentation Material support if this area is a strength
- The Novice Technical Designer is an entry level position tailored to allow an individual build a strong foundation of the equipment, develop design and formatting skills, learn how to produce outputs, become proficient using department software, and learn department procedures
- Create, spec sheets, dummies, templates and other support material under the direction of members of the Design Innovation Team
- Shadow & support Product and Technical Designers. Opportunity to work with Graphic Designers if individual shows strength in this area.
- Help develop and support team initiatives
- Support Corporate initiatives
- Entry-level position. 2+ year work experience in related field preferred but not required.
- Bachelor degree or Certificate in related field (i.e. Drafting, Graphic Design or Computer Aided Design). Equivalent work experience will be considered.
- Attention to detail with ability to problem solve and follow direction.
- Capable of handling multiple projects with the ability to work well under pressure
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Creative/Self-motivated/self-starter, with strong analytical and interpersonal skills, open to learning new processes, and willing to make suggestions for improvements
- Proficient using Desktop Publishing Tools as well as the following software titles: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite (Visio), FileMakerPro
- Be comfortable in a manufacturing environment.
