Position: Prototype Machinist
Location/s: Columbus, OH
Duration: Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: Up to $24.00/hr.
Shift: 1st Shift (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM); 3rd Shift (11:30 AM – 8:00 AM) Overtime is required

Job Description:
Qualdoc is seeking a Prototype Machinist who will set up and operate various machines (for example, vertical milling machines) to fabricate stamping dies, fixtures, and parts from blueprints and/or other forms of direction.
\n- Utilizes G-CODE to operate vertical milling machines for stamping die, fixture, and part development. Associated activities may include:
- Preparing raw stock (for example, aluminum blocks) by cutting, facing, and trimming them to specified lengths or shapes.
- Lifting, positioning, and securing prepped raw stock on machine beds using overhead cranes, hoists, vises, v-blocks, and/or angle plates.
- Inserting eyebolts or slots on prepped raw stock prior to rough and final cutting.
- Inspecting finished dies for smoothness and contour conformity to defined specifications (for example, /- .001mm tolerance on larger parts).
- Assembling die components for operations.
- Oversees the maintenance of milling machines, lathes, surface grinders.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of machining equipment components (for example, tool holsters and tools) and consumables (for example, carbide inserts).
- Utilizes, as needed, power saws, drill presses, tappers, and other hand tools.
- Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of CAD/CAM software, spreadsheet software and word Processing software.
- Must pass a criminal background check (7-year felony sex offender)
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test (10 panels for recreational drugs and opiates)
