Position Summary:

Manages clinical staff. Ensures that all clinical (Pre-Op, GI, OR, PACU) day-to-day operations are functioning efficiently and according to policy. Responsible for daily schedule management. Maintains a good working knowledge of surgical services. Manages the physician credentialing process. Assists the CNO/administrator with the general management of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Clinical Administration

  • Assures efficient schedule and registration of patients.
  • Regularly meet deadlines related to individual as well as team performance on projects/assignments.
  • Accepts full responsibility for his/her actions.
  • Direct supervision of the nursing, reception and appointment staff.
  • Hire and terminate personnel in the Nursing, Reception and Appointments Departments.
  • Evaluate personnel at 90 days and on an annual basis.
  • Plan and assist with training of new personnel.
  • Identify problems, provide solutions and evaluate results as needed.
  • Monitor and revise staffing schedules.
  • Act as a resource person to staff members.
  • Ensure that all payroll edits and time sheets are accurate and timely.
  • Monitor nursing and clinical activities on a day-to-day basis.
  • Enforce rules and regulations found in the Employee Handbook, Policy & Procedure manual.
  • Execute verbal/written counseling memos.
  • Attend and participate in assigned meetings.
  • Plan and conduct nursing staff meetings.
  • Maintain an open line of communication with Administration and physicians.
  • Review and update Policy & Procedure manual as needed.
  • Complete review of Policy & Procedure manual to be done annually.
  • Assist staff with developing professional goals.
  • Arrange in-service for nursing and clinical staff.
  • Maintain record keeping necessary for Pre-OP, GI, OR and PACU Departments.
  • Assist in nursing positions in the clinic as needed.
  • Take on any extra duties/projects assigned by Administration.
  • Promote a professional image and caring attitude.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement program.
  • Participate in administrative on-call schedule.
  • Follow through on patient concerns in a professional manner.
  • Other projects as assigned.

  • Allows staff to have substantial responsibility and discretion in carrying out work activities, handling problems and making important decisions.
  • Provides coaching to facilitate an employee's skill, acquisition, professional development and career advancement.
  • Facilitates the constructive resolution of conflict.
  • Encourages cooperation, teamwork and job ownership.
  • Provides praise, recognition and appreciation for effective performance, significant achievements and special contributions.

  • Participates in Infection Control Program

  • Utilizes appropriate services when needed to communicate with employees and patients with speech and hearing disorders.

  • Maintains contacts through periodic interactions including visits, telephone calls, correspondence, seminars and attendance at meetings and social events.

  • Provides timely response and resolution to client complaints.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises clinical employees in the surgery center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $120,000 - $150,000annually;however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, licensure, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.

Requirements:

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associates degree in Nursing (ADN); with at least two years leadership experience in Perioperative and Perianesthesia; relevant certification preferred (CNOR, CSSM, CNAMB, CPAN, CAPA, CGRN)

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as medication concentrations, discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Processing software. EMR experience preferred.

Other Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of Pre-Op, OR, GI, PACU and surgery center flow and management. Knowledge of equipment common to surgery centers, surgical departments. Knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and EMRs. Knowledge of web access and utilization.
