**Position: Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Catheterization**
**Summary:**
Assist the Cardiologist with cardiac catheterization, Swan Ganz, pacemaker, TEE/CV, IABP, Percutaneous Coronary Interventional procedures, and other minor procedures requiring moderate sedation administration. Operate and maintain associated equipment within the cardiac catheterization laboratory. Provide patient care, utilizing past radiological, cardiovascular, and nursing education and experience in accordance with the Delaware Nursing Practice Act.
**Responsibilities:**
- Demonstrate a complete working knowledge of all equipment within the department.
- Maintain knowledge of sterile supplies and techniques utilized for procedures in the area of responsibilities.
- Assist the physician with scrub duties using sterile technique to prevent cross-contamination, set-up trays, and prepare and position the patient.
- Assist the physician in the circulator role by positioning the patient to obtain digital films and administering medications/contrast (if tech/RN certified) under MD supervision.
- Assist the physician in the recorder/monitor role by documenting the case, balancing calibration, operating physiologic recorder, and reporting patient information.
- Review patient charts for appropriate information and indicators of risk to the patient.
- Provide radiation protection to patients, staff, and self according to prescribed safety standards.
- Maintain controlled drug inventory and ensure accurate supply and date of crash cart and drug box.
- Recognize emergency situations and initiate code procedures or administer first aid or CPR as needed.
- Prepare and administer contrast media or medications under the supervision of the Cardiologist.
- Assist in maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, and participating in product evaluation.
- Maintain daily work log and participate in patient follow-up.
- Rotate in an on-call status and actively participate in the performance improvement process.
- Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
**Requirements:**
- Education: RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program
- Credentials: RN - Registered Nurse, BLS - Basic Life Saving certification, ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Experience: Minimum one year critical care experience preferred
- Experience in a cardiac catheterization laboratory preferred
- Point of Care Testing training as part of Department Orientation required
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to keep confidential information regarding patients and team members
- Ability to withstand crisis situations
- Customer service skills to provide care to patients, team members, and visitors
- Knowledge and experience with Electronic Health Records
**On-Call and Weekend Requirements:**
- On-call state
- Licensed in Delaware
