RN - Med Surg

Hourly range: $36.00-$38.00 (Based on Years of Experience)
Salary range: $67,392-$79,040 (Based on a 36-hour work week)

***Sign-on Bonus: $10,000*** 
Payment terms: $5,000 in the first 30 days of employment, $5,000 after 90 days of employment.
Only candidates with a minimum of 1 year acute care RN experience are eligible for the bonus!

Summary:
This position is responsible for the direct and indirect nursing care of the unit patient. The role requires knowledge of departmental and hospital policies relevant to the delivery of nursing care. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations are inherent in this position.

Responsibilities:
- Facilitates, implements, and evaluates the Patient Plan of Care and outcomes.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Is seen as a patient advocate.
- Ensures timely implementation of nursing interventions.
- Demonstrates appropriate clinical skills and technical competence in providing patient care.
- Exercises critical thinking skills and appropriate clinical judgment.
- Accurately and promptly documents all patient assessments, interventions, responses, and provider communication.
- Assesses patient safety risk factors and identifies those requiring specific safety interventions, including skin integrity, fall risk, and appropriate use of restraints.
- Follows medication safety policy and initiates appropriate interventions for safety needs.
- Completes Safety Tracking Tools as required.
- Supervises assigned staff, delegates tasks appropriately, and takes responsibility for all care provided to assigned patients.
- Reports all performance issues of team members to ensure all patients receive appropriate care and attention.
- Assesses the educational needs of patients and families, providing appropriate written and verbal instructions. Documents assessment and education provided.
- Performs ongoing review, initiation, and implementation of patient orders in a timely manner every shift.
- Prioritizes responsibilities and issues, considering urgency and patient needs, and seeks appropriate resources.
- Independently problem-solves and multitasks efficiently, demonstrating effective time management skills.
- Actively seeks out other clinical experiences to enhance knowledge base.
- Actively assists others and accepts additional duties or assignments.
- Ensures timely completion of assigned education and annual competencies.
- Engages in unit-based councils and performance improvement.
- Recognizes unit needs and works to help facilitate solutions.

Education:
- RN Diploma/RN Graduate Program

Credentials:
- RN - Registered Nurse Required
- BLS - Basic Life Saving certification Required
- NIH - Stroke Certification Required

Competencies and Skills:
- Experience in Hospital or Acute Care Setting Required
- 2 or more years of experience Required
- New grads not accepted - the client has their own nursing school
- Clear Communication Skills, both Written and Verbal
- Able to keep Confidential Information regarding Patients and Team Members
- Able to withstand Crisis Situations
- Has skills to provide Customer Service to Patients, Team Members, and Visitors
- Knowledge and Experience with Electronic Health Records
