This position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the accounting operations of the Company, including but not limited to financial reporting, compliance, and recordkeeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
· Coordinate and prepare internal and external financial statements
· Monitor the quarterly, monthly, and yearend closing processes
· Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls
· Calculate variances from the budget and report matters of significance to senior management
· Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
· Ensure accurate and timely filing of quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); oversee all regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
· Coordinate the activities of external auditors
· Assess accounting operations and internal controls systems; make recommendations for improvement and implement new processes as required
· Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal government requirements
· Recommend benchmarks to measure the performance of Company operations
· Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Job Duties: Carries out supervisory duties in accordance with the Company’s objectives, policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: planning, assigning, and directing work, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing employee concerns, and partnering with HR to resolve escalated employee matters.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university
· Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Experience:
· Fifteen years of proven accounting and/or finance experience
· Public accounting experience with construction accounting preferred
· Seven years of management experience
· In-depth knowledge of applicable law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
· In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
· Extensive corporate finance and audit experience
Technical Skills:
· Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
· Proficiency with and/or the ability to quickly learn the Company’s financial management and accounting software
Soft Skills:
· Highly organized and detail orientated
· Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to think analytically, apply sound judgement, and solve problems
· Ability to lead, teach, train, and motivate staff
· Strong business minded consultative approach with a focus on profitability and margin
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
· Individuals must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
· Ability to sit at a desk for 6-8 hours per day
· Ability to work on a computer for 6-8 hours per day
· May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
