We are seeking an Advanced Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer in our Broomfield, CO location.
Key responsibilities:
- Applies mechanical engineering principles and concepts in the design, modeling, test and system integration of optical components and subsystems
- Design and analysis of optomechanical components and optical devices to meet alignment requirements
- Working knowledge of kinematic coupling
- Evaluate and select optomechanical components, work closely with cross functional teams and vendors to package optics in reliable, manufacturable assemblies
- Complete technical documents with design specification, test report, BOM, work instructions
- You will create hardware specifications from product requirements
- You will create designs that are manufacturable and reliable
- You will create and execute test strategies that demonstrate that designs meet requirements and specifications
- You will use standard statistical tools and techniques to analyze and interpret test results
- You will perform risk and tolerance analysis and perform subsystem FMEA’s, and sensitivity analysis. You will also perform trade studies and analysis
- You will perform optical alignment and tests using interferometers, beam profilers, and metrology equipment.
- You will collaborate with team leads and program managers in the development of project plans, proposals, and schedules.
- Experience with thermal, structural, thermo-mechanical analysis
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5 years with experience with mechanical CAD tools (preferably Onshape/Solidworks), FEA analysis, tolerance analysis or Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- 5 years of precision opto-mechanical design, assembly, and systems engineering
- 5 years’ experience with machined and sheet metal part design and engineering materials selection including adhesives

WE VALUE:
- A master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Physics or Optical Engineering preferred
- Hands-on experience integrating and building optical componentry into subassemblies and subsequent deployment into large scale systems.
- Experience with optical design simulation in Zemax (or equivalent) and the integration of optical models into CAD software packages.
- Experience with design of fixtures and tooling required for assembly of optical components, subsystem and packaging
- Experience mounting and bonding precision optical components
- Experience in designing hardware for micro-optics and fiber optics.

Estimated Salary Wage: $112,000 - $150,000
