Role Summary

The Lead Data Scientist role is responsible for leading and managing a team to deliver high quality data science and analytics solutions to Consumer clients across various geographies. The Lead Data Scientist collaborates closely with other Data Scientists and consultants on various projects (across the Consumer client portfolio) to transform client questions and issues into analytical solutions and ensure their end to end delivery.

Key responsibilities

·       Providing technical leadership to a high-performing team to deliver impactful projects that create commercial value

·       Accountable for the analytics quality and delivery of all Consumer projects out of the India office

·       Transforming client questions and issues into analytical solutions, through partnering with consultants to scope solutions and ensure projects are successfully delivering value to clients

·       Project management including overseeing and delegating various projects to team members, clearing their roadblocks and guiding them along the way

·       Building and maintaining key stakeholder relationships, to understand what ideal project delivery looks like and building this along the way

·       Team management: leading a team of data scientists (~6-10 direct reports)

·       Proactively participate in learning forums and lead knowledge sharing with wider team

Experience and education required

·       Approximately 7 years’ experience in a highly technical analytics environment, carrying out data analytics or data science work

o   Strong coding experience in SQL/Python/R

o   Experience in working with large datasets to solving commercial business problems (customer-level and/or sales transaction-level datasets preferred)

·       Well-developed commercial acumen to understand business needs and be able suggest the commercial impacts of different analytics solutions or approaches

o   Experience transforming client questions and issues into analytical solutions, through project scoping and solution design

o   Experience in FMCG/CPG or Retail industry (preferred)

o   Experience working in consulting environment (preferred)

·       Experience in supervising the work of others as a senior team member, project manager or team leader

·       Experience with successfully managing either internal and external stakeholders, delivering against projects, tasks and activities in a dynamic deadline driven environments

·       Experience and interest in people management, mentoring and development

·       Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, actuarial studies, statistics, physics, or a related discipline
