SENIOR CYBER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST (NCSOC)

Mission:

Quantum Research is seeking a Senior Cyber Research and Development Specialist to provide support to the National Cyber Security Operations Center’s (NCSOC) Research and Development team.  In this role, you will assist in sensor development, configuration, and logistics. You will also, support lab design, operational technology integration, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) implementation, and research and development of new tools, software, and other technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Research current technologies to understand capabilities of required systems or networks.
• Utilizing cutting edge tools, maintain visibility of IT and/or OT environments with complete asset discovery and threat detection as well as continuous monitoring.
• Perform hardware configuration, installation, updating and patching, and troubleshooting of server and network devices.
• Ensure that functional, performance, and security requirements are satisfied for all servers, appliances, and network devices.
• Document and enforce security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
• Research and evaluate new tools, software, hardware, and other technologies to meet customer requirements as it related to cybersecurity.
• Work in a collaborative environment, analyze data, identify vulnerabilities, and develop security solutions for all IT and/or OT environments.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to more junior members of the R&D team
• Support and Interact with all NCSOC teams where needed to assist in tasking related to the NCSOC clients.
• Other duties as assigned as they relate to the position and organization goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree, but seven years of experience and certifications may be accepted in lieu of Degree.
• At least seven (7) years of experience in one of the following areas: systems engineering, network engineering, security engineering, or systems administration. Combined experience will be considered
• Cybersecurity or network/system administration experience is a plus.
• In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and industry standards.
• Strong technical documentation skills both in written and diagram form.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to break down and communicate complex issues, ideas, and solutions.
• Networking: Cisco and/or Juniper Technologies plus network virtualization
• Virtualization technologies such as VMware ESXi and/or other Hypervisor based solutions
• Perform scheduled IA compliance checks using ACAS, SCAP, and STIG Viewer.
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or CIS Controls.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms (e.g., SPLUNK).
• Must be able to mentor and provide technical guidance to more junior members of the R&D team
• Capability to work in a team environment and independently as needed.
• Active US Secret Security clearance or higher.

• Ability to travel occasionally within the U.S
