Salary: DOE (range: $21.00-$27.00 /hour)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assists medical providers: Physician and Family Nurse Practitioner in an outpatient clinic during examination and treatment of medical patients by performing duties outlined below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparing patients for examination.
- Measure and records vital signs, collects specimens, prepares examination rooms, selects and lays out medical supplies, provides routine information related to medical treatments and procedures and assists the medical providers.
- Retrieves laboratory test results and patient files.
- Maintains medical equipment and orders and maintains inventory of medical supplies.
- Assists with client referrals to outside service providers.
- Performs clerical functions and data input into the Resource Patient Management System related to medical activities.
- Other duties related to medical activities as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Confidentiality
- The Medical Assistant will comply with HIPAA and other federal, state, local, and tribal privacy regulations, as well as maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in client matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate good judgment and excellent customer service skills.
- Have good analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
- Experience providing first aid services, EKGs, phlebotomy, hearing and exercise testing.
- CPR, Phlebotomy and First Aid certifications.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must adhere to tribal drug and alcohol policy.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and be insurable by the Tribe.
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and two years of experience in a medical clinic.
- Proficient in reading and understanding verbal and written instructions.
- Skill and experience in functioning in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and a positive attitude.
- Willingness to obtain certification as a Medical Assistant within one year of employment.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Medical Assistant Certification.
Indian Preference:
