Quartz is seeking an individual interested in growing their career as an Actuarial Analyst. This role will work within our Trend and Provider Contracting areas to support existing processes and identify new areas of opportunity. Additionally, this role will support underwriting of new and renewing groups for commercial products, and work closely with Sales and Underwriting to ensure accurate pricing is used to support underwriting decisions. This can include, but is not limited to actuarial evaluations, trend analysis, reporting, and comparing actual to budget costs. Come find your spark at Quartz!

  • Starting salary range, based on skills and experience: $55,300 - $69,200 plus robust total rewards package

Responsibilities

  • Build, improve, and maintain models used in pricing, analytics, or financial processes through data preparation, analysis, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement innovative methods to automate and optimize processes.
  • Identify analytical needs and problems, and design potential solutions by considering a wide range of data sources, tools, and techniques.
  • Complete comprehensive data analysis and interpret results to support business decisions.
  • Create compelling and effective charts, tables, presentations and other visuals to effectively communicate comprehension, relevance and materiality of results.
  • Produce quotes, create financially viable underwritten proposals and meet clients’ needs by making underwriting decisions, enforcing rules and standards and investigating to resolve issues or concerns.
  • Perform processes and tasks associated with the sale of new policies and renewal of existing business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Accounting or Related Degree; equivalent underwriting or actuarial experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • Successful completion of at least one actuarial exam, with more than one preferred; Demonstrated commitment to continuing to make exam progress toward becoming a credentialed actuary.

Applicants have the option to work 100% remote, hybrid or full-time from our Madison, WI or Onalaska, WI office. Hardware and equipment will be provided by the company, but candidates must have access to high-speed, non-satellite Internet to successfully work from home.
