Streetcar Operator — M-1 Rail/QLINE Detroit

The M-1 Rail, a non-profit organization formed in 2007 to lead the design, construction, and operation of the QLINE Detroit, is looking for Streetcar Operators.

Responsibilities

• Operates a streetcar in revenue service, non-revenue service, and in the streetcar storage yard and maintenance facility in strict compliance with M-1RAIL's rules, policies, and procedures (SOP's);
• Operates communication system in accordance with radio protocols and FCC regulations
• Communicates with maintenance staff regarding equipment observations and malfunctions;
• Performs streetcar pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with standard procedures and general orders and notices;
• Assists in the acceptance and commissioning of new streetcars and associated equipment;
• Completes all required reports accurately at the end of the scheduled shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 21 years old
• Valid Michigan Driver's license required; Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred
• Good driving record
• Ability to pass the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, including random drug and alcohol screenings
• Must be able to successfully complete the Streetcar Operator Training Program and be certified to operate an M-1 RAIL Streetcar
• Ability to maintain a high level of concentration, dependability, reliability, and safety
• Ability to exercise prudent and timely judgment in standard and emergency situations
• Customer service experience preferred
• Previous professional transportation experience in streetcar/LRV, transit bus, and/or trucking preferred
