What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Aide position at Queen of Peace Residence?
The Little Sisters of the Poor, Queen of Peace Residence ('the Home'), is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic Activities Aide to assist in providing an ongoing program of activities in accordance with a comprehensive assessment. The activities are designed to meet the interests of the residents and provide for the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of the Home's residents. All activities are consistent with the Home's policies and procedures as well as full compliance with all regulations and codes that govern the facility.
JOB STANDARDS:
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or high school equivalency.
- Must possess knowledge, experience, and skills in recreational programs such as: arts, crafts, music, ceramics, re-motivation techniques or reality orientation. Experience in recreational programs or an activities program in a health care setting is preferred.
- Must adhere to the standards of “a recognized accrediting body” that includes (but not limited to) certification by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals.
- Must possess the ability to perform the essential job functions without reasonable accommodations.
- Must have the emotional stability to effectively deal with stress created by residents’ illnesses, disabilities, and overall aging process. Must be able to cooperatively work as a health care team member.
Must be flexible to work a possible evening or weekend shift if required.
