POSTED ON 5/11/2024

Do you spend most of your day reading or learning? Would you love to pass on the joy of writing, reading, and language to elementary school students? I am looking for one private English tutor to join me in my small tutoring business.

At Quest California Tutoring we offer private tutoring that helps students maintain good grades in English class by assisting them in their difficult writing and reading homework. In addition, we create and provide our own curriculum to help students develop their writing, reading, and critical thinking techniques. We serve San Jose and the surrounding areas.

This is only a part time position. The hours may range anywhere from 2 hours to 15 hours per week depending on how many clients I am able to procure. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee a certain amount of hours. However, you will be able to choose your own days and time with your students!

This position is meant for people who are finishing their undergraduate degree in literature or in graduate school or who already have a job and would like to tutor part time. Skills:

You have a strong knowledge of grammar.

You are an organized, clear writer.

You are willing to create your own curriculum (literature lessons, essay topics, creative writing exercises, etc). I have plenty of curriculum to share and I will train you how to create lesson plans.

You understand the following processes of writing: brainstorming, researching, structuring, writing, editing/revising.

You have the ability to assess students' writing strengths and weaknesses.

Requirements:

Must have a car and be willing to meet the student at a our office or at a local library.

Must be willing to provide in person lessons and lessons online through Zoom. (If you haven’t done this before don’t worry, I can train you).
