Quidel is searching for multiple Buyers at our new manufacturing facility in Carlsbad to support 1st shift manufacturing efforts of Quidel's rapid Covid-19 antigen tests and other Quidel products. Daily schedule for this first shift position will work Monday - Friday. This position is responsible for the procurement of direct material, indirect material, non-production items, capital equipment and services to support the production plan.  Develop supply chain strategies to minimize supply chain risks, ensure continuity of supply, maintain appropriate inventory levels, optimize supply chain total costs, reduce overall lead time, and improve capabilities of suppliers.  Develop and maintain relationship with strategic suppliers.   Production material purchasing Perform direct material purchasing through the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.  Responsible for exercising judgment in determining order quantities and timing of orders and deliveries using MRP planned orders, changes to production schedules, changes in market conditions that could affect supply reliability, and buyer judgment.  Develop sources for materials.  Ensure current approved specifications are adequately communicated to suppliers.    Non-production purchasing Source and purchase a variety of non-production materials and services. Issue and maintain blanket purchase orders.  Obtain quotations for purchases as needed to ensure lowest purchase costs.  Purchase capital equipment where terms and conditions are complex.
