The RoleAs we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Buyer II to work at our Carlsbad office. This position is responsible for the procurement of direct material to support the production plan. Develop supply chain strategies to minimize supply chain risks, ensure continuity of supply, maintain appropriate inventory levels, optimize supply chain total costs, reduce overall lead time, and improve capabilities of suppliers. Develop and maintain relationship with strategic suppliers.
The ResponsibilitiesProcurement raw materials based on ERP, item history and business acumen
Work with Quality Engineering and R & D to ensure appropriate and timely material availability, correct documentation, raw material specifications, NCMR's and Certificates of Analysis
Maintain effective supplier relationships, exercising ethical negotiation and communication techniques
Host Business Review meetings with strategic suppliers to discuss business outlook, supply chain readiness and constraints, and supplier performance.
Maintain supplier scorecard via collaboration with cross functional team
Negotiate costs of materials, inbound freight, and purchase contract terms and conditions
Support R&D and new product development as core team member representing supply chain
Analyze data and apply business intelligence to make business proposal and decision
Required:
BA / BS degree in a related field
3 years of experience in a purchasing environment
Critical thinking
Data analytical and business acumen
Basic negotiating methods
Contract writing
General purchase terms and conditions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Material requirements planning
Commercial research methods
Commodity specific knowledge
Computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
Must conform to good manufacturing practices and ISO requirements
Preferred:
5-8 years of experience in a purchasing environment or related field
Desirable certifications: APICS CPIM, CFPIM, or CIRM; or NAPM CPM.

The Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics are representative of both an office and manufacturing environment and may include handling of potentially hazardous chemicals. Some time spent in production areas and warehouse. Flexible work hours to meet project deadlines. Occasional travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel. No strenuous physical activity. Typically 40% of time in meetings; 60% of time at the desk on computer/doing paperwork/ on phone, doing analytical work. Walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time are routine to accomplish tasks in this role. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. Position may be required to use Personal Protective Equipment as posted.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $53,600 to $98,000. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
