About the Role:
This role reports to the Assistant Controller. The primary responsibilities are month-end close, sales tax compliance and assisting the accounting department as needed. The right candidate needs to be proficient with Excel, eager to learn a new accounting system and gain a deep understanding of the various integrations with other software. This person would document accounting processes and provide suggestions for improvement. They are eager to be a team player and assist in all aspects of accounting, finance, billing, and collections.
What you’ll be doing:
- Assist in month-end close by preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliation and resolve any discrepancies
- Responsibility for sales tax compliance including reconciliations and resolving issues
- Assist with maintaining Avalara software
- Assist in initiatives to utilize FinancialForce to its fullest
- Maintain and update current accounting policies and procedures
- Research and recommend ways to improve on internal processes
- Assist team as needed with receivables, payables, cash management, tax, and ad hoc requests
- Contribute to a cooperative team environment where cross-functions are assumed as necessary to meet department deadlines and goals
What you’ll need for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- At least 2 years of experience in the accounting field
- Experience with accounting systems, ERP preferred
- CPA eligible
- Experience with system implementation a plus
- Public Accounting experience a plus
- Strong attention to detail
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VBA, macros)
- Ability to quickly learn accounting software and related integrations
