Position Title: Materials Manager
Company: Private Manufacturer of Engineered Products
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Position Summary:
Delivers leadership and growth to the management of materials within Company’s Operations; this is done with a focus on delivering in a manner that is customer orientated, at the pull of the customer, with processes that make the product flow; functions of this role include: Stockroom, Receiving, and Material Handling functions; ideal Individual champions the shop floor execution of Company’s Materials Management Excellence strategy; works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure that production schedules are achieved through lean inventory management, while adhering to and improving materials management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to Receiving, Stockroom, and Material Handling employees to achieve business objectives while demonstrating Company Values
- Drive results measured by Key Performance Indicators: Safety, 6S, Inventory Accuracy, Inventory Turns, Receiving Accuracy, Raw Material Replenishment, Supermarket Fulfillment (Purchased and Manufactured Parts)
- Drive Continuous Improvement into internal material flow process among components used in production, service parts, and assembly
- Support growth and execution of Materials Management Excellence strategy
- Collaborate with Purchasing Agents and Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) suppliers to optimize inventory storage, on-time delivery and resolve receiving discrepancies
- Support Purchasing Agents’ objective of maintaining planning and procurement parameters to ensure the replenishment methods reflect current business conditions by ensuring proper receiving and material handling procedures are in place and executed
- Develop and maintain KPI’s in support of continuous improvement; leverage Company corrective action tools to drive performance improvement
- Collaborate with Accounting to own and execute cycle counting activities including the execution of root cause countermeasures
- Accountable to employee performance (PMPs), cross training, employee corrective actions
- Cost saving projects driven with a CI mindset
- Apply Standard Work and create SOPs for Operations and people related processes
- Ensure that all team personnel are adequately trained, supplied, and resourced
- Must be organized and work with multiple projects at one time while meeting necessary deadlines
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain/Purchasing, or Engineering, with experience in materials management in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Bachelors’ degree required with preference in Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to gather complex statistical data and translate into meaningful information
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience in the use of best practices in Material Flow Management
- Experience in Lean Six Sigma principles and measurable results of Continuous Improvement projects
- High proficiency in Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and SQL data queries is required
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, and presentation)
- Possess the ability to learn quickly, be highly motivated and to be a self-starter; be honest, reliable, conscientious, detail oriented, have strong organizational skills and demonstrate professional conduct
