Strategic Account Manager is responsible for managing a national customer base. This position will develop, implement and execute service strategies to generate order count growth.
Strategic Account Manager responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Develop and execute service strategies to generate order count growth; expand volume of freight and service offerings to meet our national account customers transportation and logistics needs
Build and nurture existing and new customer relationships to meet individual, department and company goals and objectives
Collaborate with operations to establish shipping and carrier partners to meet customer freight needs and grow business
Consistently track and trace freight movements from origination to destination taking full responsibility, solving challenges both constructively and efficiently; communicating frequently with customer to ensure shipper and consignee are aware of any challenges or issues that may arise
Continuously develop customer relationships to expand volume of freight and services by offering relevant solutions to our customers transportation and logistics needs
Manage all account communication in a professional and timely manner
Develop and improve relationships with internal business partners to meet and exceed customer expectations
Utilize internal tools and resources to meet internal and external business needs; Confirm customer information is entered accurately in our transportation management system
Deep understanding of all company service offerings and internal resources in order to negotiate rates and generate the best margin for both the customer and our organization
Provide unmatched Customer Service through daily conversations, actively listening to customers in order to identify needs, provide solutions, educate and build relationships
Conduct sales meetings and follow up calls; presenting Company’s full range of services to your customer base, allowing yourself to build a complete logistics and supply chain solution for the customer
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
5 years account management experience; within a 3rd party logistics environment preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education plus work experience preferred
Previous experience in some or all of the following modes: refrigerated, dry van, expedited, flatbed, oversized, intermodal
Ability to handle and prioritize high call volumes and customer’s inquiries while exuding a high level of customer service
Exceptional communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
Previous experience with transportation management systems and loads boards; McLeod preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
